DANNY King was outstanding but a weakened Redcar succumbed to the inevitable as they lost 51-39 at defending league champions Poole.
The Agilia Bears were handi-capped by the absence of key riders Jason Edwards and Jody Scott and suffered the worst possible start as two opening 'maximums' saw the Pirates sweep into an early 10-2 lead.
King, who rode for two years at Wimborne Road, showed he still knew the fastest way around the harbour town circuit by stemming the tide with victory in heat three among a quartet of race wins en route to a 14-point haul.
Edwards only pulled out after breaking his shoulder in an accident at King's Lynn last Monday, while fast-rising teenager Scott was always going to be missing to take a college exam.
