MUM SLAMS TEENAGER'S SEXUAL ASSAULT SENTENCE

A DEVASTATED mum has hit out at the “disgusting” sentence handed to her daughter’s attacker who sexually assaulted the schoolgirl in the street before pulling a knife on her.

The 17-year-old boy - who cannot be identified for legal reasons - was slapped with a two-year youth rehabilitation order after he was found guilty of attempted wounding with intent to do grievous bodily harm, sexual assault and having a kitchen knife in a public place.

His young victim was walking home after seeing home a friend when she was approached by the defendant in Rievaulx Avenue, Billingham. He sexually assaulted her, touching her bottom, and when she turned to push him off he pulled out a kitchen knife, says her mum. She said: “She ran out into the road and a taxi had to slam their breaks on, she had both hands on the bonnet, and she kept on running.”
