Interest paid off as Bakre chose Boro

ACADEMY starlet Hazeem Bakre has revealed the pathway for young players at Middlesbrough inspired him to turn down a number of interested clubs, including Blackburn Rovers and Reading.
Bakre joined Boro towards the end of last season as his Huddersfield Town contract reached its conclusion. He'd top-scored for the Terriers' under-18s in both of his campaigns in West Yorkshire. Scoring three goals in two games for Boro's U21s after arriving late last term, he was handed his first pro deal last summer.
This summer, the 19-year-old, who is the cousin of former Everton star Ademola Lookman, proved his potential with seven Premier League 2 goals in 11 appearances and earned a nomination for November's Premier League 2 Player of the Month award.
