TEESSIDE’S Nicky Morgan had amassed 30 years of horticultural experience when the pandemic struck in 2020.

During lockdown, Nicky grew flowers from seed for friends, family and colleagues. Furlough enabled Nicky to complete a floristry business diploma, which focused the student's mind on the flower industry's carbon footprint.
But Nicky didn't leave it there and founded the community interest company (CIC), All Year Around: The Flower Patch, which produces seasonal cut flowers that are non-reliant on pesticides and chemical fertilisers.
These blooms are homegrown to reduce shipping miles and costs.
