THE GRADE II LISTED BUILDING HAS 'ENORMOUS POTENTIAL'

- By NAOMI CORRIGAN

Historic hotel on the market

A MUCH-LOVED Middlesbrough venue and iconic building with “enormous potential” is up for sale.

The Grade II listed Zetland Hotel was bought by current owners Philip and Joanne Christie in 2017, opening the following year as a continental-style brasserie and restaurant. Located on Zetland Road at the heart of the town’s historic quarter, the venue has become a firm favourite with lovers of fine food as well as Boro fans popping in for a pie and pint before the game.

Dating back to the late 19th century, the Zetland Hotel is a historic gem with its striking stately frontage and original interior features. The Christies brought it back to life with a painstaking makeover while retaining the building’s period charm.
