FOUR HALF-TIME CHANGES BY BORO BOSS HELPED TEAM TO SECURE A DRAW

- By CRAIG JOHNS

MIDDLESBROUGH'S draw against Wrexham was a forgettable affair on the pitch, with neither side really offering much. It will instead be remembered mostly for what Rob Edwards did at halftime.

Showing his ruthless side with Boro 1-0 down and looking lacklustre in a first half as poor as anything seen under the new boss this season, Edwards rang the changes. He's been known to make a substitute or two at the interval, but even he admitted he'd never made four before. Yes, four!

It worked. While Boro didn’t ever quite manage to find a real quality flow to their play, their intent in the second half was much better. So too was their intensity. For the first time in the game, they put it on their visitors and asked them questions.

They hadn't done that in a very poor first half where the ball just didn’t stick up top. Having made three changes to the starting lineup from the Sheffield Wednesday win, he brought Sverre Nypan and Kaly Sene into the side but neither made an impact.

Staying in the team, the inform Morgan Whittaker and Delano Burgzorg were ineffective too. That was reflected in the fact Boro had to wait until minute 61 for a shot on target, and through one of the halftime subs Tommy Conway, who particularly made a positive impression.
