Edmundson in frame for clash with the Saints

MIDDLESBROUGH will have George Edmundson available at Southampton, with Dael Fry expected to return from injury shortly after too. However, Darragh Lenihan is facing more weeks on the sidelines with a new Achilles injury.
-
Rob Edwards provided the Boro injury update ahead of today’s trip to the south coast, with Boro down to the bare bones defensively by halftime of the victory over West Brom. Matt Targett went to centre-back, with Fry and Lenihan already out and Edmundson then going off with an eye injury.
Fry had been missing with a calf injury that had flared up after similar problems last season, while Lenihan had problems in his Achilles after making his return to action a week earlier following a two-year absence. Edmundson, meanwhile, received a nasty head clash that saw his right eye completely swell shut.
Offering an update on availability for the game against the Saints, Edwards said: “George took a nasty head knock and his eye closed up straight away. It was a nasty one on the night, but luckily there was no structural damage. It was more bruising and swelling. That's subsided and he's trained throughout the week.
