A WOMAN did “not have a clear view before attempting to cross the A19” ahead of a crash which killed a motorcyclist, a trial has heard.

- By ESTHER HALLIGAN

Dax Jones, 51, died in a crash on the A19 southbound at the Ingleby Arncliffe junction on June 15, 2022.

Eleanor Wilson, 23, has denied causing his death by dangerous driving and is standing trial.

Teesside Crown Court heard Mr Jones, who was wearing a helmet, was driving his Yamaha MT motorcycle at the time of the crash.

On Monday, the jury heard statements from a number of drivers who witnessed the collision. Philip Cramp described what he saw in his rear view mirror: “I saw the motorcyclist go into the car.

“The motorcyclist was flying through the air. He looked like he somersaulted through the air a few times. I was quite shocked by what I saw.”

Wilson was driving a light blue Ford Ka. The court heard that she was waiting on the slip road junction out of Ingleby Arncliffe, just before 8am that Wednesday morning, to drive across the A19 southbound and onto the A19 northbound.
