Charity for abandoned dogs make urgent cash appeal

A CHARITY which gives abandoned dogs a new chance at life has told how it is “overwhelmed” and running at a deficit of £5,000 every month.

Maxi's Mates Rescue and Rehoming Centre, near Guisborough, has made an urgent appeal for help as it battles to cope with the numbers of waifs and strays needing help.

The charity has saved and rehomed hundreds of dogs, but has been facing soaring costs.

Founder and trustee Jane Galliford helped set up Maxi's Mates in 2012 after rescuing stray mastiff cross, Maxi, from the A66, in Middlesbrough.
