Armed officers swarmed car and found gun

MAN FOUND IN POSSESSION OF HANDGUN IS SENTENCED TO FIVE YEARS IN PRISON

A MAN has been jailed for five years after he was found with a handgun in his car.

Armed police swarmed around David Pears' vehicle after it came to a stop in Grangetown.

Events on Thursday, July 31, began when Pears, of Lythe Walk in Eston, was inside his vehicle that was parked near to Wesley Place in Stockton at around 3.45pm. After speaking to an unknown man, who appeared from a path nearby and opened the passenger door, Pears, aged 27, then drove away from the area towards Norton Road.

He then travelled along Wesley Place in Norton until it came to a stop outside a property on Windsor Court in Grangetown. Officers, including armed response from Cleveland Police, then converged on the vehicle to conduct an intervention.
