UCTOA to challenge provisional authority granted by LTFRB to new EV taxi operator

Under the order, Green and Smart Mobility is authorized to operate air conditioned taxi services on the route Cebu City to any point in Region 7 using 600 units, subject to full compliance with LTFRB rules, land transportation regulations, and all applicable national laws and local ordinances governing public land transport services.

The LTFRB emphasized that the provisional authority is without prejudice to the final resolution of the company’s pending application for a Certificate of Public Convenience (CPC).

The temporary permit does not guarantee approval of the main application and may be revoked or canceled at any time.

The provisional authority is valid for 90 days from the date of issuance. During operations, the company must carry the provisional authority together with a photocopy of the official receipt of payment, which must be presented upon inspection.

The LTFRB also clarified that the provisional authority does not allow the reclassification of the vehicles from private to for hire status until the main application is formally approved.
