It's not enough that we have to guard ourselves against the excruciating heat we are experiencing these days; now it seems that for some of us the very air we breathe may not be as safe as we think.

According to the Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) in Central Visayas, air levels are considered unhealthy for sensitive groups like children, senior citizens, and persons with respiratory illnesses after hazy conditions were observed in parts of Metro Cebu.
Based on data released by the EMB, PM2.5, or fine inhalable particles that can penetrate deep into the lungs, reached an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 112 as of 8 a.m. on April 18, higher than the AQI reading of 101 recorded the previous day.
