ProgreCebu Awards marks 2nd year

As The Freeman marks its 106th year as Cebu’s oldest-running newspaper, it has partnered once again with the Mandaue Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) to institutionalize a recognition platform that honors the individuals, institutions, and destinations helping shape Cebu into a dynamic economic and cultural powerhouse in the Philippines.

Now on its second year, the ProgreCebu Awards—a joint initiative by The Freeman and MCCI—has emerged as a prestigious platform to celebrate excellence, innovation, and leadership across key sectors.

The awards night, held at the NuStar Resort and Casino, brought together Cebu’s top business leaders, public officials, and community builders to pay tribute to transformative contributions to Cebu’s development trajectory.

Among this year’s awardees was Atty. Augusto “Gus” Go, founder and chairman of the AWG Group of Companies, who was named Most Distinguished Individual for his decades-long influence in education and entrepreneurship.
