PCG’s 2-star female officer an inspiration for women

MANILA — The appointment of Rear Admiral Mitzie Silva-Campo, the first-ever female two-star general of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), is a “remarkable milestone” and an inspiration for women.

Budget Secretary Amenah Pangandaman, herself a PCG Auxiliary Rear Admiral and a staunch women’s empowerment advocate, on Monday said this as she congratulated Silva-Ocampo for her historic feat.
“As an officer of the PCG Auxiliary, and a woman leader in government, I can proudly say that your appointment is truly a remarkable milestone and an uplifting achievement that inspires us all,” Pangandaman said in a statement.
