PB member questions projects on passable roads anew

Cebu 2nd District Board Member Stanley Caminero has once again raised concerns over the Department of Public Works and Highways’ (DPWH) practice of overlaying asphalt on still-passable concrete roads instead of prioritizing long-overdue road widening projects.

Caminero said the issue isn't new. He had already raised it earlier this year, which temporarily halted some projects. But much to his disappointment, the same works have resumed.

“Ang sakit sa dughan ani kay gi-raise na man ni sa una, unya gipadayon gihapon karon,” he told reporters.

He explained that the affected roads remain serviceable, yet DPWH still insists on breaking up existing concrete and applying asphalt overlay. Since the works stretch across long sections, traffic builds up as motorists are forced to share only one lane.

“Ang akong pangutana ngano gusto man g'yud bakbakon 'nang existing nga karsada nga perti pamang pagkadakoa ng layoa ng stretch nga wala pay expansion, widening,” said Caminero.
