The government is allocating P4.19 billion to create 16,000 new teaching positions in public schools for the upcoming academic year, aiming to strengthen manpower across the country's educational system.

In a statement, Budget Secretary Amenah Pangandaman announced the approval of the new teaching posts. "I have approved the creation of 16,000 teaching positions in public schools," she said.
This initiative represents the first tranche of the government's target to establish 20,000 new teaching positions in 2025. The funding will be sourced from the Department of Education's (DepEd) existing budget under the 2025 General Appropriations Act, specifically earmarked for hiring additional school personnel.
