Ouano eyes lower levels of gov't center for offices, public services

Mandaue City Mayor Thadeo Jovito “Jonkie” Ouano shared that once the first three floors of the new 10-story Government Center are completed, he plans to open them for government offices and public services.

As of his visit on Friday, July 18, the project located in Barangay Tipolo within the compound of the former Cebu International Convention Center (CICC) has reached 12 percent completion.
To recall, the previous administration secured a P3-billion loan from the Development Bank of the Philippines to finance the construction of the one-stop-shop government center.
The government center officially broke ground on August 29 last year, as part of Mandaue’s Charter Day celebrations.
In an interview with reporters, Ouano said that the contractor, WT Construction Inc., has been following the project timeline.
Ouano said he asked the contractor if, instead of waiting for the entire building to be completed, some offices and departments could gradually be transferred to the new government center.
