The entry-level position at Cebu City Hall departments will now begin at Salary Grade (SG) 3, following the abolishment of SG 1 and SG 2 to which a total of 486 employees belong.

This change was formalized through a Cebu City Ordinance recently approved by the City Council and sponsored by Councilor Jaypee Labella. This was confirmed by Henry Tomalabcad, head of the Human Resource Development Office (HRDO) of Cebu City Hall. He added last Thursday that Cebu City Mayor Raymond Alvin Garcia has signed the ordinance.
According to Tomalabcad, they requested the abolishment of Salary Grades 1 and 2, as they believe these are no longer "pro-labor". With the new entry level, Tomalabcad said that the starting salary will now be higher and could attract more applicants.
