Mayor Archival off to Japan

To present Cebu’s initiatives in various aspects, Cebu City Mayor Nestor Archival is set to leave for Tokyo, Japan at dawn today, Feb. 25, to speak at the Asia Smart City Conference, a two-day trade and healthcare mission organized by the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI).

While he is away, Vice Mayor Tomas Osmeña will serve as acting mayor until Archival’s return on February 28. Osmeña was also unable to attend yesterday's Charter Day celebration accordingly due to another important matter in Bacolod City.
This marks Archival’s second scheduled trip to Japan.
His first trip, set for November 2025 in Yokohama, was canceled at the last minute as Tropical Depression “Verbena” approached the Visayas. Archival was invited to speak at the conference, where he was slated to present Cebu’s initiatives on technology, mobility, and climate resilience.
The upcoming Tokyo mission differs in scope.
