Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Ma. Cynthia “Cindi” K. Chan has issued a memorandum prohibiting all city officials, employees, and personnel from accessing online gambling platforms or participating in any form of online gambling.
-
The directive, issued in line with the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Memorandum Circular No. 2025-082 dated August 12, 2025, defines online gambling as any form of betting conducted via the internet, except those operated or regulated by the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO).
Mayor Chan emphasized that any violation of this prohibition will render the offender administratively liable and may also lead to criminal charges.
"This measure is aimed at upholding integrity and accountability among our city government personnel," Mayor Chan said.
City employees are urged to comply fully with the memorandum to avoid administrative and legal consequences.
