"The doctors are really close to my heart, but if there’s mismanagement, I will not hesitate to go after you," she warned.

Initial investigations revealed that Comaling, a high-risk pregnant woman, was first brought to Isidro Kintanar Memorial Hospital in Argao. Due to complications, including a cervical polyp and premature rupture of membranes, she was referred to Carcar Provincial Hospital (CPH) for a cesarean section.

At CPH, Comaling arrived with stable vital signs and was assessed by an OB-GYN at around 7:30 P.M.

However, the OB reportedly ended her shift at 8 P.M., leaving the patient under the care of a general practitioner overnight.

Medical staff cited that Comaling’s cervix was only 3cm dilated and not yet in active labor, which was reportedly one reason CS was not immediately performed. Later signs of fetal distress emerged, but by then, no OB-GYN was available to intervene surgically.

Comaling’s condition deteriorated overnight. She was eventually transferred to Cebu South Medical Center in Talisay, but by then, her unborn child had died in the womb. Comaling herself died shortly after, despite reportedly having stable vital signs during transport.

The incident sparked public outrage after the victim’s brother-in-law, Ronald “Kiking Blues” Robusto, posted an emotional Facebook account alleging neglect and delay in lifesaving treatment.

Baricuatro stressed that the provincial government is in the final stages of its investigation and assured the public of full transparency and appropriate sanctions.
