Holy Doors closed as Jubilee Year ends

The Archdiocese of Cebu formally concluded its local celebrations of the Jubilee Year 2025 on December 28 with a closing Mass at the Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral.

As the Universal Church closed the Holy Doors, Cebu Archbishop Alberto “Abet” Uy reminded the faithful in his homily that the end of the Jubilee Year does not mark the end of God's mercy, but the beginning of a renewed mission for believers to live out and share that grace in their daily lives.

“The Holy Door is not closed so that grace may stop. It is closed so that grace may continue through us. Sugod karon, ang Holy Door anha na makaplagan sa balay sa mga Kristohanong banay,” the archbishop said, as quoted on the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Cebu’s Facebook page.

Coinciding with the Feast of the Holy Family, Archbishop Uy underscored the vital role of the family as the primary place where hope is born and nurtured.
