After hosting the graduate thesis exhibitions of several fine arts students, Atua Midtown Cebu’s Galerie Inatu hosted the first solo art exhibit of fashion designer and illustrator Bree Esplanada as its most recent creative fete.
Titled “Hollow City”, the show featured installations, resin-based figures and wall-bound tableaus that’re evocative of Bree’s love for the macabre and the whimsical — which ultimately primed it as an encapsulation of his journey as a designer and illustrator.
Guided by the compositional balance often encountered in portraits, the show’s featured works were born from an amalgamation of different illustration and painting techniques — executed in a disciplined and seamless method that’s distinct from someone who crafts with intention.
