'Food Delivery' puts human face on West Phl sea dispute
The Freeman
|August 18, 2025
Once withdrawn from being shown at a film festival earlier this year, "Food Delivery: Fresh from the West Philippine Sea" has expanded its limited theatrical reach to cinemas nationwide since August 13.
The documentary focuses on the day-to-day lives of Filipino fishermen, navy, and coast guard members amid the controversy over Philippine waters, which China claims as part of its territory through its highly contested “nine-dash line.”
Exclusively showing at select Ayala Malls Cinemas, including Cebu’s Central Bloc, the film is directed by “Sunday Beauty Queen” filmmaker Baby Ruth Villanueva, whose crew spent months documenting its subjects at the height of tensions between the Philippines and China.
