Flood control contractors: prepare for serious charges

Make no mistake about this. The president is very serious with his "mahiya naman kayo" exposé and the 15 construction companies named by him as being allegedly involved in many controversial projects should now be prepared for legal battle. I happen to know one company owner from Dumanjug, Cebu, and I warn him to take this matter very seriously.

- Atty. Josephus B. Jimenez

BBM declared that since July 2022, the government has embarked on no less than 600 flood control projects and the public treasury has rolled out no less than P455 billion in public funds. He named 15 construction companies that cornered most of these projects, and one from my father's hometown of Dumanjug, was fourth. This company started from scratch and grew to become a giant and today it is a leading player through, among others, some strategic political connections.

I know the owner when he was still a struggling supplier of construction supplies. But when he got rich and powerful, I feel that he doesn’t know me anymore. I think by this time he and the others named by the president need a very good lawyer. Of course, he and others are presumed innocent until proven guilty, but you know how words spreads. In fairness, our relatives in Dumanjug say he’s an honorable man. But I say that when your company is being named by BBM himself, the Palace must have some important information. And you may not like them once published.
