DOTr vows support to PCG's modernization efforts

In line with the national thrust to protect the country's maritime domain and improve humanitarian emergency responses, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) vowed full support for the Philippine Coast Guard's (PCG) modernization of its assets and personnel.
This is the commitment of Secretary Giovanni Lopez following the directive of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., which orders the DOTr to provide full support for the PCG's requirements to further enhance its operational capabilities and safeguard the Philippines' maritime domain.
Lopez emphasized the expanding role of the Coast Guard, noting that PCG personnel now go beyond coastal protection to include security at transport hubs and frontline disaster response operations.
