DGS' solar generation system gives savings in electricity bills

The Cebu City government has begun reaping the fruits of its first solar generation system, which was officially turned over to the Department of General Services (DGS) at ERMM Complex in South Road Properties (SRP).

In less than a month into operations, the 300-kilowatt system has already trimmed nearly P78,000 from the city’s electricity bill, according to Mayor Nestor Archival Sr.
The Freeman learned that DGS used to incur more than P350,000 in electricity bills.
Installed across the compound’s rooftops, the solar power system comprises 462 solar panels and is designed to supply up to 70 percent of the facility’s power needs.
