DepEd assures gov of its support

The Department of Education (DepEd) Division of Cebu Province has assured its full support to newly-elected Governor Pamela Baricuatro as the agency faces challenges in the education sector, particularly the shortage of classrooms, teachers, and learning materials.
Yesterday, officials from DepEd Cebu Province paid a courtesy call to Baricuatro to convey their commitment to collaborate closely with the new administration.
But beyond the ceremonial gesture, Cebu Province Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Senen Priscillo Paulin said that the province’s education sector is in urgent need of resources, highlighting that challenges persist in infrastructure, personnel, and materials.
Paulin said the division didn’t use the courtesy call to present problems right away, choosing instead to focus on aligning with Baricuatro’s vision for Cebu Province. He hinted that the right time to present their pressing issues would probably be during the governor’s reconstitution of the school board --one of the points in Baricuatro’s 10-point development agenda.
“I did not present it now because I don't think it’s the proper time to present her the problems, issues because what we wanted her to know was that DepEd Cebu Province is at her back and we will work closely with her to help her fulfilling her vision and in aspirations for Cebu Province,” he said.
