Crime rate in CV drops in early 2025

The Police Regional Office 7 reported a notable decline in crime across Central Visayas from January to April 2025, attributing the improvement to sustained police visibility, intelligence-driven operations, and strong community engagement.
In a statement, PRO-7 said a total of 11,518 crime incidents were recorded during the period, down by 312 cases compared to the 11,830 incidents logged in the same timeframe in 2024.
The region also experienced significant improvements in index crimes, which include murder, homicide, physical injury, robbery, and theft. These incidents decreased from 986 cases in 2024 to 676 in 2025—a drop of 310 cases.
According to the agency, this reduction also led to a lower average monthly index crime rate, which fell from 3.12 in 2024 to 2.14 in 2025. PRO-7 cited this as an indicator of improved public safety and more effective crime deterrence.
