Upon the temporary halt of an ongoing project in South Road Properties (SRP), the Cebu City Council stepped in following concerns raised by fisherfolk whose fate was left uncertain.

This came after a privilege speech by Councilor Pastor “Jun” Alcover during the latest regular session, in which he raised the concerns of the fisherfolk, stressing that they had not been properly informed about the status of their situation.

The council agreed to conduct an executive session, requesting the presence of representatives from the DPWH, Department of Engineering and Public Works (DEPW), Department of Welfare for the Urban Poor (DWUP), United Fisherfolks and Urban Poor, Coastline Management Bureau (CMB), Rivers Management Council, City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CCENRO), WTG Construction and Development Corporation, and South Road Properties Management

AFFECTED

Alcover emphasized that hundreds of families and thousands of individuals were affected by the developments in SRP. Most of them, he added, were members of the United Fisherfolks and Urban Poor from Barangays Mambaling, Basak San Nicolas, Cogon Pardo, and Inayawan.

No genuine leaders today, only politicians

The tragedy of our nation today is that we have no authentic leaders. We only have dirty, traditional politicians. There’s no moral difference between the incompetent incumbent president and the overly-ambitious vice president. Cebu is being led by incompetents who look honest and a few competent ones who smell bad with regards to integrity. The only reason why the disgruntled military isn’t intervening to oust BBM is the more dangerous option of having a more scheming vice president and her controversial brothers and devious old father.
