The new Chinese ambassador to the Philippines Jing Quan underscored Cebu's importance in bilateral relations during separate courtesy calls to Cebu Governor Pamela Baricuatro and Cebu City Mayor Nestor Archival the other day.

The envoy, accompanied by Consul General Zhang Zhen showed China's intent to strengthen ties with key Philippine provinces early in his tenure including in Cebu.
During his visit, both sides exchanged views on political dialogue, facilitating economic and trade cooperation, and promoting people-to-people exchanges.
They agreed to work together to combat crimes targeting Chinese nationals and to protect the rights of Chinese citizens in the Philippines, as well as the local Filipino-Chinese community.
