After years of stumbles with the 'Nirbhay’ cruise missile programme, the DRDO has notched a textbook success: the Indian version of the American Tomahawk has cleared its most demanding test yet.
The Long Range Land Attack Cruise Missile (LRLACM), still awaiting an official name, was fired from the Integrated Test Range at Chandipur off the Odisha coast on June 15 and struck its target 1,000 kilometres away, with defence officials confirming that the technical snags which dogged Nirbhay have now been ironed out.
