Amid tight security arrangements, over 3.75 crore voters are set to exercise their franchise in the first phase of the Bihar assembly elections on Thursday to decide the fate of 1,314 candidates, including 1,192 men and 122 women.

A total of 121 assembly constituencies will go to the polls in this phase, of which 102 are general seats and 19 are reserved for the Scheduled Castes. These constituencies are spread across 18 districts: Madhepura, Saharsa, Darbhanga, Muzaffarpur, Gopalganj, Siwan, Saran, Vaishali, Samastipur, Begusarai, Khagaria, Munger, Lakhisarai, Sheikhpura, Nalanda, Patna, Bhojpur, and Buxar.
