Annamalai vents displeasure, denies bid for new party

Former BJP state president K. Annamalai dismissed speculation over the launch of a new political party, while expressing ambivalence about his current role within his party’s state unit.Speaking to journalists in Coimbatore, he stated that although he remains a “karyakarta” of the party, no one can force an individual to stay on if they do not wish to.

Annamalai’s remarks came amid swirling reports that he might break away and forma separate political entity in the state.

He asserted: “I am also waiting and watching as a karyakarta of the BJP,” and added that “none can put a gun to one’s head and force a person to remain ina party.”
