Wonders of light

Light! An essential thing for our life as well as for vision. Its phenomena reveals its essential role in both nature and technology.

Nowadays we use cameras, eyeglasses, sunglasses, telescopes, and microscopes at ease. The different phenomena which lead the foundation for technologies of such optical instruments are reflection, refraction, polarization etc. Let's know about a few of these fabulous phenomena.

The common thing we know about light is that it is a form of energy and it travels in a straight line unless it strikes some obstacle in its path. Basically, it's a small part of the wide electromagnetic wave spectrum (like gamma rays, X-rays, UV rays, visible light, IR rays, Microwave rays, radio waves).

Among all these different types of electromagnetic waves, what we see is called as visible light. This visible light includes different colors ranging from violet to red along with their shades. From where the light comes? well, the natural sources of light are the Sun and stars, besides these there are artificial sources also like bulbs, lamps etc.

Light behaves in an interesting way. When it strike any object it bounce back , the process is called as reflection of light.
