Scholarships to jobs: blueprint for OBC upliftment

The Uttar Pradesh government has unveiled a longterm blueprint for the upliftment of the OBC community, placing education, employment, and social security at the center of its 2047 vision.

The Pichda Varg Kalyan Department has outlined a series of schemes aimed at empowering OBC youth and families, with the goal of making the state a $6-trillion economy and contributing decisively to India's development. OBCs, who constitute over 52% of UP's population, are a key focus of this strategy. In 2024-25 alone, 32.22 lakh OBC students received scholarships and fee reimbursements. Over the past eight years, 2.07 crore students have been supported with 13,535.33 crore, four times higher than the 4,197 crore
