At a time when Tamil films were steeped in mythology and melodrama, Parasakthi brought a gust of fresh, fearless realism. Directed by the Krishnan—Panju duo and written by a 28-year-old M. Karunanidhi, who would later become the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, the film broke new ground in content, dialogue, and performance.
