The State Election Commission (SEC) has decided to extend the November 27 deadline for citizens to submit their suggestions and objections regarding the draft voters' list published on November 20 for the impending polls to the civic bodies. "The deadline for submitting suggestions and objections will be extended. However, how many days of extension can be granted is under consideration," state election commissioner Dinesh Waghmare told FPJ.

The decision comes amid the opposition's allegation of irregularities in the list and demand to extend the suggestions/objections deadline. On Tuesday, the Congress urged the SEC to extend the deadline by 15 days. In a letter signed by state Congress president Harshwardhan Sapkal and party leaders Vijay Wadettiwar and Satej Patil, the party said, "Many voters are not in the draft list of wards in which they live. The situation is different across all municipal corporations. This is a large number."
