ED summons Anil Ambani again

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has issued fresh summons to Reliance Group chairman Anil Ambani, asking him to appear for questioning on November 14 in connection with an alleged bank fraud-linked money laundering case, sources said.

The 66-year-old businessman was earlier questioned by the federal probe agency in August for around ten hours. Once he appears before the agency next week, his statement will again be recorded under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), the sources added.

The ED probe is linked to a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) case registered on August 21 against Reliance Communication Ltd (RCom) and others for an alleged Rs 2,929 crore loan fraud with the State Bank of India (SBI). The CBI had also carried out searches in connection with the case, including at Ambani’s residence in Mumbai.
