Cong alleges deal in VC appointments

Sharp political questions have resurfaced after Co ngress general secretary K C Ven ugopal alleged that the ap pointment of vice cha ncellors to two state-run te chnical universities signals a tacit understanding between the Chief Minister and the Go vernor, despite their public display of discord.

The all egation was made following official notifications naming Dr Ciza Thomas as Vice Chancellor of APJ Abdul Kalam Technological Uni versity and Dr Saji Gopi na than as Vice Chancellor of the Kerala University of Di gital Sciences, Innovation and Technology. Venugopal ar gued that the selections un dermine claims of a constitutional standoff between the elected government and the Lok Bhavan, suggesting instead a pattern of behind-the-scenes accommodation.
