Implemented on September 22, the revamped GST regime simplifies the previous four-rate structure into two primary slabs: 5% and 18%
Mumbaikars are reaping the rewards of the newly introduced GST 2.0 reforms as Navratri lights up the city and Diwali shopping gains momentum.
Retailers across Mumbai, from Dadar's electronics hubs to Andheri's fashion arcades, are witnessing a surge in consumer demand due to slashed GST rates on essentials, white goods, and entry-level vehicles.
Implemented on September 22, the revamped GST regime simplifies the previous four-rate structure into two primary slabs: 5% and 18%. A 40% bracket now applies solely to luxury and "sin" goods. Essentials like packaged food, personal care products, and select dairy items have been shifted to lower tax slabs or exempted entirely. Consumer durables, such as TVs, ACs, and dishwashers, previously taxed at 28%, now fall under the 18% slab, significantly reducing prices.
