The Congress party leadership intends to leverage the controversy relating to Sabarimala's missing gold to corner the Left-led government, accusing it of presiding over one of the gravest temple scandals in Kerala's istory.

As a first step, Congress will stage a protest called “Prathishedha Jyothi” in Pathanamthitta on 9 October, aiming to mobilise believers around allegations of gold misappropriation linked to the dwarapalaka idols. The meeting will be inaugurated by AICC General Secretary K C Venugopal, and similar rallies are planned across the state.KPCC President Sunny Joseph has asserted that the Travancore Devaswom Board president is unfit to hold office after failing to safeguard temple assets. He claimed that copper plates have replaced what were once gold coverings, implying a loss amounting to crores.
