Cong, CPM talks on civic tie-up ruled out

Speculation over a possible post-election understanding between the Congress and the CPM in Thiruvananthapuram Corporation has been dismissed, with Congress Working Committee member Ramesh Chennithala stating that the party had held no discussions on joining hands to block the BJP from power at the civic body.

Speaking amid heightened political chatter in the Kerala capital, Chennithala said the Congress had neither initiated nor entertained any proposal for a tactical alliance with the Left party at the municipal level. He underscored that the Congress’ organisational position remained unchanged and that decisions on local governance would follow established party processes rather than speculation driven by electoral arithmetic.
