An actor was mauled by a stray dog during a street performance intended to draw attention to the growing stray-dog threat in Mayyil Kandankai, Kannur, on Sunday evening. The assault occurred at approximately 8 pm on the stage of the one-act play Pekk-olam, staged by Krish-napillai Library at Kan-dakaiparamba.

The dog entered the stage mid-performance and bit theatre activist P. Radh-akrishnan, injuring both his hands and legs. Radha-krishnan is a local of Ka-ndakai.

Witnesses say the animal lunged without warning, causing chaos among the cast and spectators. The performance, meant to dr-amatise the hardships posed by stray dogs, instead became a real-time illustration of those very risks. Rad-hakrishnan was rushed to a local hospital, where he is being treated for puncture wounds and lacerations. Officials say he does not currently face life-thr-eatening injuries.
