After the State Election Commission (SEC) faced criticism for postponing elections in 24 local bodies, fresh questions emerged over the Bombay High Court's order to defer counting in the 264 bodies that voted on Tuesday until December 21.

- FPJ Political Bureau

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who had earlier criticised the SEC's postponement decision, said it was inappropriate to delay counting for 264 bodies merely because polling in 24 had been shifted to December 20. However, he added, that both the SEC and the courts are independent institutions and their directives must be respected.
