Youth Congress 'shirtless' protest disrupts India AI Summit 2026

A group of Indian Youth Congress (IYC) workers staged a brief “shirtless” protest at Bharat Mandapam on Friday during the India AI Impact Summit 2026, prompting detentions and sharp political reactions.

According to Delhi Police, the incident took place around 12.30 pm near Hall No. 5 of the venue, which was hosting the international summit. The protesters, who had registered online for the event, allegedly removed their sweaters and jackets to reveal T-shirts bearing images of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and former US President Donald Trump, along with slogans criticising the government and the reported India-US trade engagement.
Police detained several participants. Those identified include Krishna Hari, national secretary of Youth Congress from Bihar; Kundan Yadav, Bihar state secretary; Ajay Kumar, Uttar Pradesh state president; and Narasimha Yadav from Telangana. They are scheduled to be produced before the Patiala House Court.
