As you can see, I am writing this in May, 2025, and I thought it's important to reiterate that because the first ever Volkswagen Golf made its debut in the same month, 51 years ago.

Not only that, it's also one of the top-three best-selling cars of all time. The GTI badge is almost as historical, having made its foray in June, 1976. You might not have been aware of it until now, but those who were, and had the money, have already booked/bought theirs from the first lot of approximately 200 cars allocated for India this year. In fact, VW says that all cars from this lot have already been sold.
