True self-motivation
The Daily Guardian
|September 28, 2024
Emotional Intelligence was a term coined by psychologist and author Daniel Goleman in his 1995 bestseller, ‘Emotional Intelligence’.
He used research to back up what most of us have observed in daily life, that being smart, in the logical sense, does not guarantee success, in work or in personal life. For certain jobs, a high IQ is definitely necessary, but for most areas of life, what is actually more important are selfmanagement and interpersonal skills.
He identified five specific areas which indicate the presence of emotional intelligence: self-awareness, self-regulation, self-motivation, empathy, and social skills In this article we will explore the area of self-motivation. What is it and how can we develop it?
Self-Motivation
Most of us are guilty of procrastinating. Even if we are disciplined with our regular responsibilities, usually we have bigger dreams that remain only dreams, and major life decisions which we put on the back burner, waiting for some magical day everything will be easier.
