SC defers hearing on 'green' crackers to Oct 10

The Supreme Court on Wednesday postponed to October 10 the hearing on issues concerning the manufacture and sale of ‘green’ crackers in Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR).
The top court had earlier, on September 26, allowed certified manufacturers to produce ‘green’ crackers, provided they did not sell them in prohibited areas of Delhi-NCR without prior approval. The court had also asked the Centre to reconsider the absolute ban on firecracker manufacturing in the region and directed the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change (MoEFCC) to consult all stakeholders, including the Delhi government, manufact
