Protests Greet Macron's New PM in Budget Cut Backlash; 200 Arrested

French police arrested nearly 200 people on Wednesday during the early hours of the "Block Everything" protests, organised by a loose left-wing coalition amid growing anger at President Emmanuel Macron's leadership and austerity policies, France 24 reported.
The unrest came on the day Sébastien Lecornu was sworn in as France's new prime minister, becoming the country's fifth PM in under two years. The official handover with outgoing Prime Minister François Bayrou, who resigned after losing a confidence vote, is scheduled for this afternoon in Paris. Lecornu, a close Macron ally and former defence minister, now faces the challenge of passing a budget through a deeply divided National Assembly.
